The Quanterix SR-X Biomarker Detection System: Bringing Ultra-Sensitive Biomarker Detection to Your Benchtop
Digital technologies capable of detecting biomarkers and their subtle fluctuations at ultra-low concentrations, far beyond the limits of conventional methods, are transforming biomedical research. By enabling detection of proteins and nucleic acids at the single-molecule level, Simoa® technology has redefined sensitivity and precision in biomarker analysis, driving major advances in our understanding of human health and disease.
The Simoa ultra-sensitive biomarker detection platform has powered over 3,200 peer-reviewed publications across diverse areas such as neurology, immunology, oncology, cardiology, and infectious disease. To date, more than 560 biomarkers have been studied using Simoa, thanks to a growing menu of ready-to-use assays and the customizable Simoa® Homebrew option, opening up limitless possibilities for discovering emerging biomarkers.
The Science Behind Simoa Technology
Unlike traditional immunoassays, Simoa isolates individual immunocomplexes into microwells and digitizes the signal, enabling up to 1,000 times greater sensitivity. Instead of requiring millions of molecules to trigger detection, Simoa can detect just one. This allows researchers the ability to quantify biomarkers in serum and plasma that were previously undetectable with standard ELISA techniques.
Solutions That Scale with Your Science
To make Simoa’s ultra-sensitive detection accessible to a wider research community, Quanterix offers a complete suite of solutions, including assay kits, a flexible instrument portfolio, and contract lab services, tailored to a range of scientific needs and budgets. Our core platforms: the fully automated Simoa HD-X Analyzer® and the compact, semi-automated Quanterix SR-X® Biomarker Detection System, are powered by our proprietary bead-based Simoa technology. Importantly, quantification is consistent across platforms, ensuring seamless data comparability whether you’re using the SR-X or the HD-X.
Quanterix SR-X Biomarker Detection System: Affordable, Flexible, Ultra-Sensitive Detection at Your Fingertips
The SR-X is an ideal entry point into ultra-sensitive biomarker detection. With a compact footprint, lower price point, minimal maintenance requirements, and user-friendly interface, SR-X is a versatile platform well-suited for labs of all sizes. It offers the same ultra-sensitivity as the HD-X, with flexibility for custom assay development using the Simoa Homebrew solution while requiring less sample volume, perfect for studies where sample availability is limited.
Ease of Use with Low Maintenance
The SR-X system includes an integrated touchscreen for intuitive control and supports 2-step or 3-step protocols with minimal hands-on time. Its all-in-one design streamlines operation and reduces maintenance, enabling quick onboarding and reliable performance without extensive training or infrastructure.
Multiplexing Power for Small Sample Volumes
The SR-X supports both single- and multiplex detection of low-abundance biomarkers across various sample types. It can detect up to four biomarkers simultaneously from very small sample volumes, making it an excellent fit for research studies with limited or precious samples.
Supporting Research Across a Range of Therapeutic Areas
As an accessible benchtop system, the SR-X has opened new doors to researchers around the world. It has supported impactful biomarker studies across therapeutic areas, including a recent publication from a Phase Ib/IIa study evaluating the safety and tolerability of the repurposed drug enoxacin for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
