Alpha2-macroglobulin

Alpha-2 macroglobulin is a large protein found in serum and plasma and synthesized primarily by the liver. It functions as a protein inhibitor in a variety of biological functions including coagulation and fibrinolysis. Levels of alpha-2 macroglobulin in the blood have been associated with nephrotic syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease.
