Martin Madaus, Ph.D., Executive Chairman and CEO
Dr. Madaus brings
more than 20 years of experience in the diagnostics and life science industries.
He most recently served as President, Chairman and CEO of Millipore Corporation,
recently acquired by Merck KGaA. Before joining Millipore, Dr. Madaus was President,
CEO and head of North American Operations for Roche Diagnostics Corporation.
Prior to this he served as Vice President of Business Development for Roche
Molecular Diagnostics and General Manager of Boehringer Mannheim Canada.
He also held a number of senior-level sales, marketing and product management
positions with Boehringer Mannheim Corporation in both Germany and the US.
Dr. Madaus is a director of the Massachusetts High Technology Council and serves
on the Life Sciences Collaborative Leadership Council of the Massachusetts Technology
Collaborative. He has a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Munich,
Germany and a Ph.D. in veterinary medicine from the Veterinary School of Hanover, Germany.
David Duffy, Ph.D., Vice President, Research
Dr. Duffy joined Quanterix in 2007 and leads the team of scientists
developing its single molecule detection technology. Dr. Duffy was previously at Surface
Logix, where he was the Director of Pharmacomer Technology. There he oversaw
the development of a novel chemical technology for optimizing the PK/PD of small
molecules that resulted in two drug candidates currently in Phase II clinical
trials. Prior to that, Dr. Duffy was at Gamera Biosciences where he was a co-inventor
of a centrifugal microfluidic device called the LabCD that was acquired and commercialized
by Tecan. Dr. Duffy is an inventor on 12 U.S. patents and has more than
20 publications in the fields of surface chemistry, microfluidics, and bioanalysis. Dr.
Duffy was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical
Biology at Harvard University. He was the first Sir Alan Wilson Research Fellow
of Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge. Dr. Duffy obtained
his Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the Department of Chemistry
at the University of Cambridge, and his B.A. and M.A. degrees in
Natural Sciences from Selwyn College, University of Cambridge.
David Fournier, Director of Engineering
Mr. Fournier joined Quanterix in early 2008 and leads a team of engineers
developing the company’s single molecule detection platform. Mr. Fournier was
previously at Illumina Corporation (formerly Cyvera), where he most recently
served as Senior Staff Engineer working on their novel encoded particle systems.
While at Illumina, he was responsible for the integration of optical, mechanical
and electrical systems related to the "Veracode" platform. Prior to Illumina,
Mr. Fournier served as Principal Engineer at Cidra Corporation where he was
instrumental in bringing innovative fiber Bragg grating optical systems to market.
He was also part of the team that built the fiber optic sensor business that was
subsequently sold to Weatherford International in 2001. Mr. Fournier also worked
at Gerber Systems Corporation where he brought laser-based "thermal imaging" to
market on their high resolution plotters. Early in his career, he was a member
of the research team at Agfa, electronic pre-press division. Mr. Fournier earned
his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and M.S. degree specializing in Electro-Optics
from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.
David Hanlon, Ph.D., Director, Strategic Marketing and Collaborations
Dr. Hanlon joined Quanterix in 2008 to identify unmet market opportunities
that would benefit from the Company’s technology platform. Prior to Quanterix,
Dr. Hanlon led several external research collaborations at Cytyc to discover
novel biomarkers of cervical neoplasia, as well as an internal team focused on
marker validation and the development of diagnostic assays. Dr. Hanlon
was Director, R&D at VisEn Medical and Project Manager at Proteome, where
he led a team of scientists developing protein-centric databases for comparative
and functional genomic applications. He also served as Director of Neuroscience
at Oncogene Research Products where he developed a life science portfolio consisting
of neurochemical and immunological products. Dr. Hanlon received
his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and was a postdoctoral
research fellow at Harvard University and the University of California, San Diego. He
obtained a B.S. degree in Biochemistry from Worcester Polytechnic
Institute.
David Wilson, Ph.D., Senior Director, Product Development
Dr. Wilson joined Quanterix in 2010 to lead the development of breakthrough
diagnostic products using single molecule detection technology. Dr. Wilson
brings 20 years of leadership experience in in-vitro diagnostics product
development at Abbott Laboratories where he developed and commercialized
over 20 new products across the major clinical diagnostic areas. His
technical accomplishments include a groundbreaking product for hemoglobin
A1c monitoring using novel capture and detection technologies (U.S. patent
and $80MM in revenue). He also has extensive partnership experience
including leading a successful companion diagnostic venture with Wyeth.
Most recently, Dr. Wilson pioneered an entrepreneurial accelerated product
development model partnering with smaller diagnostics firms that cut
time-to-market by half and cost by two-thirds. He is lead author of over
25 articles and abstracts, inventor on two U.S. patents, and recipient
of numerous awards, including three Chairman Awards and four
Entrepreneurial Awards. Dr. Wilson received his Ph.D. in biophysical
chemistry and his M.S. in chemistry from the University of Illinois/Chicago.
He obtained his B.A. in chemistry from the University of South Florida.
